A fusion of jungle, U.K. bass, 2-step garage, and the rich house sound commonly associated with Substation Recordings is what distinguishes the latest release from Calgary’s AdamAllDay.

The four tracks cover a myriad of ambiances and aesthetics that call to mind some of the key musical movements of recent years. Future bass fans will instantly gravitate to “Like This,” a subdued, yet captivating house track with dissonant vocal samples and melodic, low basslines.

“No Money” and “Wait For It” reflect the rapid emergence of the sound dubbed “house ‘n’ bass,” a new take on Sheffield’s bassline house sound. Dark, guttural, staccato basslines pulse over an energized, stripped-down kick-snare house jack.

“You & I” is where AdamAllDay’s background as a jungle producer is most visible, with its intricate percussiveness and brooding sub-bass.

This EP not only firmly positions AdamAllDay as a significant force of dance floor-driven selections, but also as a significant innovator. His blending of sounds from the past, and present of the United Kingdom with the stylings of the emergent school of house music has produced something completely unique, and this EP signals the start of a promising path of innovation.
