about

Chunkier than a jar of Skippy's peanut butter and creamier than a Starbucks latte, Audica blows the lid off his first EP with some bass-heavy garagey house bombs. The Substation crew has had a close eye on Adam "Audica" over the past year, watching him excel as a producer with big releases on Wasabi Recordings and Restore Music, not to mention a massive remix of Sergio Levles "Clue" which dropped little over a month ago on Substation.

The EP begins with club anthem "Lens Flare", panned sirens give way to warm chorded pads, distressing the listener and building to a large savoury drop of perfectly overlapping bass stabs and swells with eerie, delayed synths.

"Boom" sails off like a ship lost in a fog of reverberated oscillators before finding its course and delivering the low-end goods in true bassline house fashion - once again Audica's impressive use of sub frequencies drives the listener into full dance mode.

One consistent element of all tracks on Audica EP is just how creepy and dark his intros are. "Around Back" starts like a dissonant horror flick, sinister vocals echo into a punchy up-and-down bassline that guide the listener all the way to the sub wall.

Dark and bitter, "Coffee & Smoke" bumps and grinds its way along in minimalist fashion, focusing on Audica's signature deep, rolling bass melodies with church-hall percussive accents and ghostly pads.
